Frequently Asked Questions
What is Prompter Share and how does it work?
Prompter Share is a browser-based teleprompter that syncs your script in real time between two devices. You open the controller on your laptop, paste your script, then share a viewer link to your phone or tablet. When you press play, the script scrolls on the viewer device at the speed you control from your laptop. No apps, no hardware, no cables.
Do I need a teleprompter hardware rig to use Prompter Share?
No hardware required. Prompter Share runs in any browser, so your existing phone, tablet, or second monitor becomes the display. If you own a beamsplitter mirror rig, Prompter Share supports one-click horizontal and vertical flip modes so it works with those setups too.
Does the viewer device need an account or app installed?
No. The viewer only needs to open a link in a browser. No account, no login, no download. You share the viewer URL from your controller session and the display device connects instantly. This makes it easy to use on any borrowed phone, old iPad, or second laptop.
What devices does Prompter Share work on?
Prompter Share works on iPhones, Android phones, iPads, Android tablets, MacBooks, Windows laptops, and Chromebooks. The viewer page supports iOS 12 and Safari 12 or newer, so even older iPads display correctly without any issues.
How is Prompter Share different from dedicated teleprompter apps?
Most teleprompter apps run on a single device and require you to set scroll speed before recording. Prompter Share lets you adjust speed, pause, and restart in real time from a separate controller device while the viewer displays the script. You also see a live preview of exactly what the viewer screen shows.
Is Prompter Share free to use?
Yes, Prompter Share is free during its beta period. After launch it will be available as a one-time purchase with no subscription. Users who join during beta get early access and the best pricing available.
Can I use Prompter Share with a beamsplitter teleprompter mirror?
Yes. The viewer page has a one-click horizontal flip and vertical flip for mirror teleprompter rigs. The prompter operator always sees unflipped text on their control device even when the viewer display is mirrored.
